"Hope all is well. I just wanted to quickly e-mail to say thank-you very much for the growth platform you provided me through the course at IBI. If you recall, I was in your course in Toronto. After months of working two jobs and volunteering at a private equity fund to build experience, followed by a 3-month unpaid investment banking internship at Acasta Capital (70 hours a week, while working at a restaurant Friday and Saturday nights), three interview processes where I made it to the final round (at Rothschild, BMO, and CIBC), I have finally been hired by Evercore Partners in New York on their M&A and Restructuring group where I will be soon be starting this coming week. As you know, Evercore is one of the most prestigious investment banking firms in the U.S.I just thought I’d share my story, so that you could pass it along to your investment banking hopefuls. I graduated from Economics at Western (non-Ivy), and a background filled primarily with political experience. Most people told me that it was impossible and that I would never get in, and that I was better off building experience elsewhere.Instead, I joined the course and I read all of the materials from IBI every single day. I built all of the models from the templates you provided, with multiple sets of companies in different industries in my spare time. Eventually, I could build every type of model just from the top of my head. I learned nearly all of the material in your course to the point of near memorization, and practiced interview questions for an hour every single day. If it wasn’t for the materials from the course and the interview book, as well as the networking opportunities you provided, I would have never been able to have landed the internship at Acasta, and eventually my new role at Evercore in NYC.I apologize for the lengthy email, but thought it prudent to offer you my sincere thanks, as well as a story for you to share to your future students of the tremendous platform your course can provide (to those with the right attitude)."
