Investment Banking Training Testimonials
As the world's largest financial modeling training program, the Investment Banking Institute has equipped over 35,000 professionals and students to obtain the skill set of a financial analyst and advance their careers.
The program is recognized worldwide, taught in over twenty locations and recommended by numerous financial institutions. In addition, our 17 banker/instructors have a long history of successfully training and mentoring our clients. All IBI instructors are highly experienced investment bankers and private equity professionals who bring real life, relevant experience to our trainees, whether they are seeking to enter the industry or refresh their existing skill set.
How can we best measure the success of our training program? There are a number of ways to measure success; however, quality of training, support, mentorship, and career advancement are the differentiating factors when determining the suitability of a program. The success of any training program can only be measured by the satisfaction of its participants, and the results achieved.
Over the past 12 years, we have received thousands of testimonials that have surpassed even our highest expectations for the program. We are proud to share with you just a small sample of our trainees' success.

Subject: IBI Opportunities

Having the Investment Banking Institute course on my resume has proven to be a great talking point with recruiters, human resource departments as well as interviews. I firmly believe that this course has been the differentiating factor that landed me the Financial Analyst position at PricewaterhouseCoopers last year, as well as final rounds most recently with J.P. Morgan, in their Chemicals coverage group and with Duff & Phelps. This is a great testament to the work that your firm is doing.
I am reaching out to you once again at this time, as I am seeking new career opportunities. Although I have preference for New York City, I am 100% geographically flexible. I have the analytic skills, drive, determination and endurance necessary to be successful in Investment Banking. I have attached a copy of my resume for your convenience. I would greatly appreciate any assistance that you may be able to once again provide in my search. Thank you for your time, and have a great day.

Thanks so much for all the help and advice you gave! I am happy to share that I received 3 offers over the past week, and am letting out a huge sigh of relief now.
I was offered Goldman Sachs Hong Kong, Credit Suisse Hong Kong and Barclays Singapore, all in the Investment Banking Division
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it is a no brainer that I should choose Goldman Sachs? Or are there other factors I should consider before making my final decision? What are your views on working in Singapore versus working in Hong Kong?
Once again, thank you so much for all the help, for everything from the IBI course to my resume critique to interview preparation.

Subject: IBI Update
Just wanted to give you an update on my job search. I'm a junior in college, took IBI this past summer in New York City. My experience at IBI was instrumental in my internship search process. I interviewed with 7 investment banks (including top tier firms like BofA, Merrill Lynch, Lazard, and Wells Fargo Securities) and just accepted an offer with Wells Fargo Securities for their Investment Banking Summer Analyst program. I go to a non-ivy school and have a 3.2 GPA. In every interview I had, the interviewers commented on how impressive it was that I did IBI last summer, because taking the course showed that I was genuinely committed and driven towards pursuing a career in investment banking. Without a doubt, it differentiated me from my peers and I'm certain I wouldn't have gotten the interviews/offers I had if it wasn't for IBI. I will definitely be recommending IBI to my friends at school.

Subject: IBI Training Course Feedback
Date: February 19, 7:43 pm
Because it is my personal practice and belief to recognize exceptional quality and performance, I decided to make my observations and feedback on the IBI Washington training course explicit. In fact, the training course was so effective that I consider such an exercise critically important.
Overall, the course significantly exceeded my expectations. While the course content itself was to be expected, it was JC’s truly exceptional delivery that strongly tilted the value balance. JC was extremely knowledgeable, technical and personable, effectively managing to present traditional investment banking theory in a practical/operational wrapper. The combination of JC’s experience and course delivery strengths kept everyone else in the class consistently engaged throughout the course. Overall, it was a great experience and I've already made several recommendations to my peers. In terms of rank, the course gets a ten out of ten.
Further to my point, I feel that the back office support at IBI including the customer focus and responsiveness were distinctive. I considered every touch point with IBI - from the initial inquiry to final payment - to be exceptional. In fact, the tertiary 'support' services delivered by IBI provide a strong value-adding complement to the course educational product. Together, I strongly feel that IBI has a differentiated package that cannot be matched anywhere by anyone. It was a pleasure doing business with IBI.

Good news regarding the real interview I had right after our mock interview, E2 Capital offered me the Analyst position and I’ve signed on the dotted line.
My career as an M&A Analyst starts in the beginning of next month; thanks a lot for all the encouragement and guidance both in and outside of the class.
Hope all is well with you!
“It was the most valuable, practical approach to the subject matter I have seen – including my T25 undergraduate, business school education”|
Subject: IBI Recommendation
Date: March 21, 9:27am
First and foremost, I recently finished the Investment Banking Institute class for intensive training in valuation, financial modeling, and accounting; I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in the industry. It was the most valuable, practical approach to the subject matter I have seen – including my T25 undergraduate, business school education.
I do not hesitate to say that the tuition price of the Investment Banking Institute is vastly outweighed by the holistic investment banking and career advice, outstanding valuation and accounting training, and overall insight provided by Ashish Kohli, the investment banker leading the class. Furthermore, the supplemental coursework, resume review, and interview preparation are invaluable to anyone interested in a career within the financial services and/or investment banking.
Not only have I recommended the course to several close friends and colleagues, but I look forward to sitting through the course again, which is available to all previous IBI students, free of charge.
“due to what I learned in the course I have secured a position as a full time investment banking associate”|
Date: March 25, 12:29pm
The reason I am contacting you is I completed the Investment Banking Institute course back in September and due to what I learned in the course I have secured a position as a full time investment banking associate with Citigroup. As I am an Irish citizen I am contacting you as Citi will sponsor my visa and needs all necessary information regarding my skill set. I apologize for the short notice but time is of the essence as they will apply for the visa today.
Would it be possible to send a transcript stating my completion of the course and the course’s content? If this could be sent today I would be incredibly grateful. Thanks again for helping me receive my offer!
Kind Regards, P.O.

Subject: Great Job on the Class
Thank you for the great course in Geneva, I am very satisfied! It catered exactly to my needs, giving me the practical insights into implementing various valuation models. The course is also useful to bridge many theoretical concepts I have previous studied with their practical implementation. In doing so I believe the course helped tie together these different theoretical concepts and gave me a more rounded knowledge of valuation and corporate transactions.
Your modeling insights were particularly helpful and I believe that my excel skills were greatly improved. Not only can I work more confidently with finance models, now I can actually understand the transactions better and work faster in excel.
This program is tailored to achieve the desired objective and that I can confirm. Nothing needs to be changed. The whole program set up is just perfect. I will recommend it to friends, families and colleagues over and over again.
Many thanks ones again,
“I have finally been hired by Evercore Partners in New York on their M&A and Restructuring group”|
Subject: An Amazing Opportunity
Date: 28 March, 20:04
Hope all is well. I just wanted to quickly e-mail to say thank-you very much for the growth platform you provided me through the course at IBI. If you recall, I was in your course in Toronto.
After months of working two jobs and volunteering at a private equity fund to build experience, followed by a 3-month unpaid investment banking internship at Acasta Capital (70 hours a week, while working at a restaurant Friday and Saturday nights), three interview processes where I made it to the final round (at Rothschild, BMO, and CIBC), I have finally been hired by Evercore Partners in New York on their M&A and Restructuring group where I will be soon be starting this coming week. As you know, Evercore is one of the most prestigious investment banking firms in the U.S.
I just thought I'd share my story, so that you could pass it along to your investment banking hopefuls. I graduated from Economics at Western (non-Ivy), and a background filled primarily with political experience. Most people told me that it was impossible and that I would never get in, and that I was better off building experience elsewhere.
Instead, I joined the course and I read all of the materials from IBI every single day. I built all of the models from the templates you provided, with multiple sets of companies in different industries in my spare time. Eventually, I could build every type of model just from the top of my head. I learned nearly all of the material in your course to the point of near memorization, and practiced interview questions for an hour every single day. If it wasn't for the materials from the course and the interview book, as well as the networking opportunities you provided, I would have never been able to have landed the internship at Acasta, and eventually my new role at Evercore in NYC.
I apologize for the lengthy email, but thought it prudent to offer you my sincere thanks, as well as a story for you to share to your future students of the tremendous platform your course can provide (to those with the right attitude).
Best Regards, DJF

How are you doing recently? I want to give you some updates on my side and ask for some advice as well.
I have been quite actively networking based on your contacts and went through many formal and informal interviews this past month after the class I took with you. At the moment, I am very excited about getting internship offers from 4 investment banking firms here in Singapore.
By the way, one of the interviews was extremely technical and went into details of the LBO model. The IBI course was very helpful in terms of preparing me for it.
Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing from you.
“I will recommend your firm at any chance I get”|
Date: April 11, 10:37 am
I wanted to give you some feedback on my experience with IBI. As always with services selected purely on the web, quality and competence can be an issue. Words on a webpage are cheap and given the cost of the course, my expectations were high and so was my skepticism.
Having just completed the course, I can tell you unequivocally that Wesley surpassed all of my expectations. I felt challenged every minute, both in class and by each homework assignment. The written material is thorough and also a great compliment to the class. Wesley went above and beyond to make sure we understood concepts as opposed to just understanding formulas. His energy level and teaching style made three hours feel like 45 minutes.
Needless to say, I’m very impressed with your organization and your instructor selection. I will recommend your firm at any chance I get. In hindsight, the cost of the program is very reasonable and I feel I received a great return on my investment.
Thank you. Let’s grab a coffee next time I’m in New York.
All the best,

After taking the 4-week Investment Banking Institute course last year, I promptly landed an investment banking analyst job at Midtown Partners, a New York boutique investment bank that specializes in PIPEs and Reverse Mergers. They remarked to me that the skills I had acquired in Financial Modeling and Valuation, as well as the initiative to take the course while working full time, impressed them and made them decide to hire me over other applicants. In June of this year, I will be joining Citigroup as an investment banking analyst. I would recommend this course to any professionals who want to give themselves a leg up over the competition in a very competitive field. This was probably the most important class I have taken in the area of finance.
Thanks Again, AN

My name is Chris and I was in your IB Training class that ended a few weeks ago in Boston. Just wanted to get in contact with you and let you know that I was offered a job at the finance firm/investment bank called Chrystal Capital Partners. The firm mainly focuses on capital raising and the sale process and working here will be a great opportunity for someone who has been trying very hard to break into the industry. I just wanted to say thank you for teaching the course over the past month. It will definitely help get me into the swing of things faster when I start.

Hope all is well. I recently attended the Investment Banking Institute with Wesley Kennedy in San Francisco. It was an awesome hands-on learning experience that I could not have had in a classroom setting. More importantly, I realized my true passion of banking and corporate finance. I have actually received two job offers; one in Equity Research, and one at a tech-focused investment bank which I’m really excited about.
In addition to the training, the resume review and mock interviews with the banker were key in helping me achieve a much higher level of proficiency. The human resource department was instrumental in assisting me with finding interviews. Once again, thanks to all of you at IBI.

I am writing to let you know that I have just accepted an offer from UBS to become an Associate in their Investment Banking Division. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this opportunity!
Over the past few weeks I have gone on numerous interviews with bulge bracket firms and the only reason I was able to land offers was because of the financial modeling skills I learned at IBI in New York. Due to the economy, landing offers was difficult this year, but what made me stand out in the process was my ability to master the technical interview questions. The answer to every single technical interview question I was asked could be found in my Investment Banking Institute materials. I want to thank you, my banker and the rest of the team for this class and the continuous support throughout this process.

I took your class this past April and just wanted to update you on my progress. I am a graduate of Lehigh University, double major in Finance and Marketing. As I attempted to change careers I found myself struggling to find a job. I ended up "settling" for a job that I was not that proud of and wanted to do something about it so I decided to take the class you were teaching. It ended up being one of the best decisions I have ever made because I was just offered a new job at Fidelity Investments. I will be working in the Corporate Treasury in the Capital Planning Group. My primary responsibilities with be financial modeling and scenario planning. I just wanted to thank you for this because I was under-qualified for the role but was prepared to the interview. In my interviews I was able to convince them I was knowledgeable and was able to walk them through, step by step, the process of financial modeling. I was scheduled for 3 (45 minute) interviews but ended up having 5. The last person to interview me was the VP of the group and he offered me the job on the spot. The offer ended up being a 65% increase in salary and I could not be more happy than I am right now and just wanted to let you know. I will be forever grateful for taking your class and it was the best money I have ever spent.
Best Regards, KM

I remember during the course you spoke about some of the differences between working at larger firms vs smaller ones. I am preparing to accept one of the offers and would like to know about these differences, specifically relating to the line of work and the work environment.

Wesley’s dynamic teaching style, pragmatic approach, and ability to push students to use fundamental skill sets to think through real world problems themselves makes this course the most valuable professional development course that I’ve ever taken.

The work IBI is doing out here on the West Coast in training up Silicon Valley’s future bankers, PE/VC, and corp dev leaders needs to be recognized.

Subject: Update on my new job
Thank you for a great learning experience in New York. I would strongly recommend your course to anyone who is looking to learn or relearn the valuation and financial modeling skills that are in demand by employers today. You were not only a very knowledgeable Investment Banker, but were very approachable and lively. You made the course interesting, which I feel is very important when learning intensive materials in a short time period. Also, since you have worked for many years in the field, you were a great career mentor for students including me who are looking for feedback on their resumes and interviewing skills. The work I did with you on both my resume and ongoing career search was extremely helpful and I am fortunate to have you as a friend, instructor and mentor.
Since our class was comprised of individuals from a wide variety of financial backgrounds: some were working in Investment Banking or Private Equity firms; others were recent MBA graduates looking to learn practical modeling skills to supplement their formal class training; still others were looking to transition their careers into an Analyst or Associate role at a firm, I felt a major benefit of the program to be the networking I and others were able to do with classmates; each student bringing a fresh set of experiences to the class for others to draw from.
My skill set in the areas of modeling and valuation improved dramatically between the start and end of the program. I view the tuition money paid for the course not as a cost but as an investment in my career. I also wanted to give you some good news - The material helped me a lot in my interviews and I was recently hired as a Financial Analyst and am using the skills I learned from IBI since day 1.
Thanks again, LS
